VSOP Cognac
What Does ‘VSOP’ Mean?
Curious what the letters ‘VSOP’ mean on a bottle of cognac? These four letters stand for ‘Very Superior Old Pale’, indicating it contains eaux-de-vies that have been aged for a minimum of 4 years.
In 1927, Rémy Martin’s Cellar Master André Renaud created the very first VSOP Cognac Fine Champagne – a truly visionary and audacious decision. Multi-layered and well-balanced, the Rémy Martin VSOP Cognac has gone on to earn multiple awards and become an enduring icon in its signature black frosted bottle.
About Rémy Martin VSOP Cognac
Since 1724, the Rémy Martin house has built a legacy of revealing the essence of cognac in its most elevated forms. Our VSOP Cognac is a vibrant distillation of generations-worth of expertise and excellence and stands as our most classic offering of Fine Champagne cognac.
How Rémy Martin VSOP Cognac is Crafted
Grapes harvested from the prestigious Fine Champagne cru of Cognac, France. The fermented juice from these grapes – also known as a young wine – is then meticulously distilled in copper stills to create an eau-de-vie or spirit. After distillation, these eaux-de-vie undergo a careful aging process in French oak barrels under the meticulous watch of our Cellar Master. To create the classic Rémy Martin VSOP Cognac, he draws on his mastery of the delicate art of blending to carefully combine hundreds of different eaux-de-vie from varying barrels, the youngest of which is aged a minimum of 4 years. The resulting blend reflects Rémy Martin’s mastery of balancing both powerful and elegant aromas to create a singular, perfect harmony of smooth fruit flavors.
